What is STEAM Education?
STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Students will already be experiencing these teaching approach in everyday life. Students are naturally curious about the world around them and everything that surround the students can be link to STEAM without them realizing. STEAM will be learnt holistically and not divided into subjects. Students will learn about the world around them through investigation, exploration, experimentation, evaluation, prediction and problem solving. STEAM Education is one of the method use by the school that links to physical, emotional, social, language and intellectual development
By adding ‘Arts’ to STEAM Education, this enhances students’ creativity skills which is vital in later life. New technologies cannot be established if people do not have creative skills. Using STEAM education results in students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. STEAM Education in early childhood includes sensory stimulation, providing of materials that encourages exploration and research, at the same time students will gain confidence, be able to ask questions, predict and find out answers by themselves.
